Being an entrepreneur is such an amazing journey – doing what you love and finally being your own boss is an incredible experience! It’s a lifestyle where you’re able to leave the corporate world behind, work at home, live your passion, and create your own roles and rules. As great as that freedom is, it can also be very overwhelming.
Entrepreneurship is like traveling without a map. If you’ve never been on this trip before, you have no idea what to expect, and often may feel like you’re not sure what to do. If that sounds like you, don’t worry – you’re not alone. My clients have experienced these things too, and honestly, so have I.
I remember when I was first starting on my journey. Although I had business acumen in sales and management, I didn’t have the first clue how to run my own business. After all, working for someone else, I only needed to excel in my area of expertise – only one piece of the puzzle within someone else’s system.
It’s a whole different game when you wear all the hats!
As an entrepreneur, I realized I now needed to be able to see the whole picture and understand what all the different pieces of the puzzle were, and how they all fit together.
It didn’t take me long to realize that in addition to having the skills and strategies, my state of mind played a critical role in my ability to leverage my skills with confidence and consistency!
If you’re struggling right now with focus, balance, confidence, or taking action, here are three KEY tips to help you right now:
1) During your “office hours”, avoid distractions at all costs. They undermine your ability to stay focused and get things done. (Here’s a great article that will help you increase your productivity with one simple step!)
2) Stop waiting for things to be perfect or for the “right time” to monetize your business. Losing time is losing money, and money is important to keep your business going! (Read this to get 5 tips that can help you get started now! )
3) Make clarity a priority – it leads to confidence, and the ability to move forward and achieve your goals. Just like taking a trip, without knowing where to go, you can’t get there! (Learn the 5 keys to get clarity in your business here!)
Remember too, that on this journey, you’ll always be learning. It’s a great adventure full of ups and downs and sometimes even a little bit of sideways. As Shel Silverstein said,
“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
Don’t be swayed from your path to fulfilling your passion & purpose. Stay strong, be focused, learn what you need to know, and keep moving! Anything can be!
