Go In-Depth with Christine:

What is your favorite Repository?
It’s not a repository, but I love old newspapers. They are filled with genealogical gems.   And they provide such rich social history information about our ancestors. It is fascinating to see how social norms have changed over time.

What is your social media tool of choice for genealogy?
I love using social media for genealogy. I couldn’t limit to one platform. To connect with other genealogists and get up to the minute notice of records releases, conferences, burning issues, I like Twitter. For sharing new resources and for sharing ancestral tourism journeys, I like Blogger. For sharing resources, assisting with ideas, and indulging our Scottish heritage, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Facebook page. Always such great craic among the Scots and Scots diaspora.

What are your feelings about adding non-blood related lines into your research? (ie...adoptive, step families, etc...)
I come from a very large family. My mum was one of 21 children. My father one of 10.  We take the term “kin” to include others belonging to us (the same way that few clan members are actually related, but are united for a common cause) In MY family trees, anyone was born to us, raised by us or claimed by us is one of us and gets their branch on our tree. This also means inclusion in our family newsletter when it comes to announcing birthdays, weddings, births, graduations or sharing stories, memories and milestones.
